Two Truths That Apply in All Relationships
- God Made Us Relational
“Then the Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.’” -Genesis 2:18 NLT
- Relationships are Hard Work
“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.” -Matthew 7:12 NLT
Three Principles That Apply in All Relationships.
- Jesus is the Foundation of Relationships
“The only person with an infinite ability to love is God in Jesus Christ.” -Author Unknown
“After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building. Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.” -1 Corinthians 3:5-11 NLT
- Sacrifice is the Attitude of Relationships
“This is how we’ve come to understand and experience love: Christ sacrificed his life for us. This is why we ought to live sacrificially for our fellow believers, and not just be out for ourselves.” -1 John 3:16 MSG
- Submission is the Posture of Relationships
So, be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” -Ephesians 5:15-19 NLT
